Stephen Colbert set the file straight after a Donald Trump supporter railed in opposition to “The Late Present” host throughout his sentencing to 90 days in jail for his function within the U.S. Capitol riot.
Jason Riddle, who chugged a stolen bottle of wine and took a ebook throughout the Trump-incited violence on Jan. 6, 2021, complained to the court docket this week that Colbert had “referred to as me an enemy of the state to a booing crowd,” per CNN.
“OK, that’s not true. That’s not true,” Colbert clarified on Thursday. “I didn’t name him an enemy of the state. That was the segue into the roundup roundup.”
Colbert rolled the tape of what he truly referred to as Riddle in June final 12 months: “New Hampshire native and man educating a cryptocurrency class from his mother’s basement.”
The comic then corrected the outline to: “New Hampshire native and man educating cryptocurrency class… from jail.”
