Kim Kardashian Somehow Made the Sheer Trend Conservative

Kim Kardashian’s love affair with body-conscious black tie is alive and well. The star attended the Kering Group’s Caring for Women event in New York City today in a custom Balenciaga transparent knitted evening dress complete with a dramatic train and embellished with crystals, which she wore over a skintone pantabodysuit. Kim kept the rest of the look lowkey, matching her manicure to her light pink dress, and decorated her fingers with a few rings.

While Kardashain’s personal style has never exactly been synonymous with modesty, she seamlessly pulled off a conservative take on the sheer dress trend. With the dress’s mock neck and long sleeves (not to mention the pantabodysuit underneath) the reality star made a statement while staying covered up from head-to-toe.

The charity dinner is the Kering Group’s second annual Caring for Women dinner, and their 15th anniversary of fundraising for various causes that seek to end violence against women. This year, the event will raise funds for the Malala Fund, the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), and the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault.

Kardashian is one of many notable attendees at the event—whose theme is “Strength in Numbers.” Salma Hayek Pinault (a co-chair for the evening and wife of Kering Group CEO François-Henri Pinault) arrived in a dark red embellished gown with a halter neckline, while activist Malala Yousafzai wore a dark emerald gown.
