Georgia's capital, Atlanta, has in recent years undergone a transition from a city of regional commerce to a city of international influence, and has been among the fastest growing cities in the world for much of the 1990's and 2000's. This was kickstarted in part by Atlanta hosting the Olympic Games in 1996 and Delta Airlines using Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as the world's busiest airport both in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft operations, and the largest airline hub in the world.
