For the scuba divers, it offers visibility of between 130 and 150 feet and the famous Japanese Gardens dive site, an arrangement of rocks, sand, coral, and plants likened to an exquisite imitation of an Oriental horticultural display. Between March and September, visitors may be lucky enough to see the giant leatherback turtle swim ashore to lay their eggs. At the north end there is a small off-shore island, one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the Caribbean and the breeding ground for hundreds of species including the dramatic Red-Billed Tropic Bird.
