Eden Rock , one of the most famed hotels in the Caribbean, is an imaginatively sited house built fifty years ago by Remy DeHaenen, a celebrated local adventurer. In 1995, the property was bought by an English couple, David & Jane Matthews, who intended, initially, to use it as a holiday home. However, a small bar was operating ... which was kept running ... one thing followed another ... and five years later Eden Rock Hotel was invited to join the prestigeous Relais & Chateaux group of distinguished hotels. Recently an overall redevelopment of Eden Rock, Filao and the Cups sites into one new better balanced Eden Rock resort was put into effect with the resultant mix of beach houses, a luxury penthouse loft, various types of suites, and cabins and cottages built around a couple of restaurants, a shop, a well-being centre, an art gallery, some boats and several wild life watching points, and all on the beach of the beautiful St Jean Bay.
The accommodations are varied and unique with beachfront paradise, spectacular ocean-front views enveloped in pure luxury, private terraces with wonderful views, and the essential ingredients of Caribbean charm. The categories include:-
Diamond: a magnificient loft suite at the very top, as well as a beachfront house with its own infinity pool.
The Big Beach House: On the beach with a walled garden, private pool, and spectacular views of the ocean.
Heavenly Suites & Houses: All uniquely decorated to the highest standard, some on the Rock and some on the beach.
Premium Suites: on the Rock with ocean view terraces and the very best of everything.
Classic Suites: Some are on the Rock, others on the beach, each is uniquely decorated in a spirit of luxury.
Cottages: With a Caribbean charm, close to the sea, each with a private terrace.
The hotel has two elegant and intimate restaurants – the Sand Bar serving lunch and On the Rocks Restaurant for evening meals in an unsurpassed setting.
Snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and boating day trips to nearby islands are all available from our beach. Deep sea fishing, scuba diving, and crewed sailing charters are also near at hand.
Jane's Gallery, perfectly positioned alongside the buzz of The Sand Bar with a view of the ocean, acts not only as a commercial art gallery but as a studio where guests and visitors can turn their hand to painting in any material from oil to watercolour.
