This is a particularly well-loved hotel set in 17 acres of magnificent gardens with, not one but, three great restaurants (Palm al fresco, Vyviens a la carte and The Cove for fine dining), 4 bars, 3 swimming pools, a beauty salon and spa, non-motorised watersports including snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing, children’s games room, gift shop and tennis court.
Set in its own glorious and secluded bay on the northern shore of Antigua, Blue Waters is one of the island’s most outstanding resort hotels. Its brightly decorated rooms are situauted in two-storey blocks and villas scattered around superb tropical gardens, between two rocky promentaries enclosing a beautiful beach. The covered, open-air dining room and breezy bar are at the centre of the hotel, and overlook the main pool and gardens and beyond it the sea. There is always a lively atmosphere about Blue Waters, which gives it a buzz to go with its reliable service (though you can escape into quiet seclusion if you want to), and which has made it a very popular choice over many years for guests from all over the world.
The general layout of the hotel, with its excellent tropical greenery, is extremely attractive. All the buildings look down over the gardens, the pools and the sea, or they look over the point, where there is a gazebo that is popular for wedding ceremonies. Opposite the bar, over an outside sitting area with wooden garden furniture and white parasols, is the main dining room, the Palm Restaurant, set in a tall, open-sided Creole style building, its eaves fringed with gingerbread and surrounded by a balustrade and ranks of tropical plants.
If these areas are the centre of the resort in the evenings, the heart by day is the main swimming pool, which is surrounded by a terrace with loungers for sunbathing and more greenery. To the side is a daytime bar in a gazebo. And beneath it you come to a second pool, and beyond it the main beach, a pretty area of light-sand. Under palms that stretch out over the sand you will find loungers and sports equipment. The watersports building is at the left hand end of the beach.
At the end of a rocky promentary in the farthest corner of the bay, is Rock Cottage, the ultimate in holiday accommodation. This executive villa, furnished and fitted to a high standard, with 4/5 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, several dining areas and decks, and a jacuzzi/plunge pool, is the perfect private retreat in a beautiful location. The superb facilities and amenities of the Blue Waters Hotel just a few hundred yards away.
