Caribbean Villas Grenadines yacht charter
For this Caribbean holiday, we chartered Reve de Tropique, a 45 ft schooner, to sail the Grenadines for 17 days with a pick-up at Young Island, St Vincent. After a transatlantic flight to Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados, we flew to Anos Vale Airport, St Vincent with LIAT. The skipper of the yacht met us with transport and we boarded the schooner. The following morning we set sail for Bequia, and after a couple of hours we dropped anchor in Admiralty Bay. We had drinks at the Green Boley, followed by dinner that evening at the Frangipani Hotel, owned by Son Mitchell. After a late morning start we arrived at Mustique, and, of course lost no time in visiting the world renowned “Basil’s Bar” and the fabulous Cotton House Hotel. The next day we spent at Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau followed by a short sail to Cannouan with it’s fantastic white sand beaches, now home to Raffles and the Trump International Golf Club. Our next “port of call” was the Tobago Keys, renowned worldwide amongst the yachting fraternity as Paradise in the Caribbean – four tiny uninhabited islands offering fantastic anchorage. We took the opportunity to spearfish for dinner – Red Snapper pan fried off the stern of the yacht washed down with St Vincent’s famous Strong Rum with a squeeze of lime was just about as perfect as it gets with the night sky ablaze with stars and with a few shooting stars also to be seen. We spent a few hours in Petit St Vincent, trapped on shore waiting for a squall to blow through, before heading for Grenada. We initially dropped anchor in Prickly Bay at the south end of the island to enable us to visit Secret Harbour, but after a couple of days, we headed north and sailed into St George’s – one of the most beautiful harbours in the Caribbean. After two more days we sailed north to Carriacou, the largest of the Grenadian Grenadines. Carriacou was a beautiful unspoiled island, not commercial, and with Hillsborough, the capital, like going back in time. After Carriacou, we headed north for St Vincent calling in at Union Island, the largest of the St Vincent Grenadines, and made return visits to Cannouan, Mustique, and Bequia. Apart from the 45 minute squall in Petit St Vincent, the weather was perfect, the yacht was great, the islands definitely were A PARADISE OF ISLANDS. A great vacation organised by just caribbean villas and we also had the benefit of viewing a number of Caribbean hotels recommended by the staff of Just Caribbean Villas.
Whether it be hotel accommodation, a Caribbean villa, or a yacht charter we would definitely use Just Caribbean in the future.
