Caribbean Villas cruise

My family decided on a Caribbean holiday and opted for a Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean through The Just Group. We boarded the Mariner of the Seas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a seven day cruise calling at San Juan, Puerto Rico, St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and St Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean. Members of my family had made many previous cruises including several transatlantic ones, and we were all most impressed with the Mariner of the Seas. We had four outer cabins and they were all superb quality. The facilities on board, including the swimming pools, restaurants, and bars, were excellent with the ice skating rink and 200 feet high rock climbing wall being outstanding. The nightly entertainment featured Broadway-style revues, and the Casino Royale with every gaming option was a temptation to resist. The Royal Promenade, four decks high and the length of two football pitches, was fantastic with it’s shopping facilities including designer clothes and jewellery stores, an English Pub, and the 24 hour Café Promenade. Our first port of call, Puerto Rico, was a disappointment, chiefly because it rained, but the next stop at St Thomas more than made up for Puerto Rico. St Thomas was terrific. The anchorage at Charlotte Amalie was sensational, and the shops were fantastic with fabulous duty free bargains to be had at such stores at Colombian Emeralds and Diamonds International. The town was quaint, colourful, and bustling with life. After time spent in Charlotte Amalie, following the recommendation of one of the staff at The Just Group we went to Bolongo Bay Beach Resort for lunch and to enjoy their 1,000 beach frontage, and their water sports facilities, which were made available to us free of charge despite not being guests at the resort – a terrific PR gesture. Our last port of call was to the island of St Maarten, owned by the Netherlands and France. After more shopping at Philipsburg on the Dutch side, we went by taxis to Marigot on the French side of the island to board a hydrofoil to Anguilla, a short journey to the port at Road Town. We had a most enjoyable day at Shoal Bay, one of the world’s best beaches. Anguilla, a laid back, low lying island with superb beaches is now one of the major destinations for the wealthy with great hotels and fabulous villas being constructed in superb locations. We reluctantly had to return to Marigot to travel across the island to board the Mariner of the Seas at the cruise terminal for St Maarten and return sail to Fort Lauderdale. A super cruise in a most impressive ship thanks to just caribbean villas who also recommended us to visit Caribbean hotels on St Thomas, St Maarten, and Anguilla for a future Caribbean holiday.
