Caribbean - Nevis the honeymoon island
There's something about this small, island that grabs you and makes the perfect Caribbean holiday. The charm and tranquillity takes you back to a time when things were simpler, when life was more peaceful, when stress was just a word, not a way of life. Nevis is special, a place that will seduce you, and tug your heart strings after you leave.
Like they say on Nevis: "You're only a stranger here once.” That was how I felt after a stay there in May 2005 of a fam trip organised by Just Caribbean and the Nevis Tourist authority. There's nothing typical about accommodations on Nevis, I got to visit the Hermitage Plantation which is one of the oldest Nevis’s Caribbean Hotels and, it is in fact more than a hotel, it is one of the oldest wooden houses in the Caribbean, This charming boutique hotel slumbers at 800 feet above sea level at the base of Nevis Peak, the 3,000 foot, rainforest covered mountain, with the beautiful beaches of Nevis less than a 15 minute drive away from the hotel. I was very impressed with Montpelier Plantation Inn, a romantic hideaway located 750 feet above the Caribbean Sea. This small luxury Caribbean hotel has accommodations in 17 newly renovated rooms and is considered to be one of the finest resorts in the Caribbean. Nevis’s other famous plantation-style Caribbean Hotel is the Nisbet Plantation Inn built on the site of an 18th century plantation. This was once the family home of Fanny Nisbet, who married British Naval Admiral Horatio Nelson and is spread over 30 acres and a half-mile-long white sand beach that is protected by an off-shore reef.
