Caribbean Hotels Antiguan Holiday
This small island of just 108 square miles sits in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean, and is the sunniest spot in this group- just perfect for that Caribbean holiday. It is full of history and has important links to Britain through Admiral Horatio Nelson. Standing on Shirley Heights, looking down over English Harbour, you can imagine what it would have been like in the 18th century during the great age of sail, and yet this is now brought totally into the 21st century with the annual Sailing Week, which is one of the world’s foremost events of this nature. Glorious sandy beaches, fabulous accommodation in typically Caribbean hotels and or in a luxury Caribbean villa, from the more modest bed and breakfasts to the large hotel complexes and a population whose friendliness is second to none, make this an ideal destination for all travellers. My accommodation at Blue Waters and Hawkesbill Beach Resort was arranged by Just Caribbean Villas and could not have been better.
From great dining to picnics on one of the many beaches, from Carnival to watersports, eco-tours to riding, there is an abundance of things to do, with something for everyone. And for those who dream of getting married in paradise, then look no further, Antigua would truly provide a wedding to remember. The capital, St Johns, is a lively hub of activity, with an outdoor farmer’s market mixed with new shopping plazas. Look out for batiks, pottery, straw goods and of course, Antiguan rum and rum cake. This is just a tiny taste of the beauty of Antigua and my first trip there and, just like Arnie, I will be back!!
