Beautiful Barbados
Barbados is the most eastern island in the Caribbean, and is a tiny dot on most world maps with an area of 430 square kilometres (166 sq miles). Barbados has a population of about 260,000 - which is quite high considering its size. With 97 kilometres (60 miles) of coastline, beautiful Barbados hotels, and a wide choice of Caribbean holiday accommodation, the island has much to offer for a superb Caribbean holiday.
The chattel house, a unique feature of Barbados, is one such product of the cultural side of sugar. Of necessity, plantation workers needed houses that were easily assembled and taken down so they could move from plantation to plantation. The chattel house is, in fact, perhaps the world's first true mobile home. Being a coral Island, Barbados is fortunate to be surrounded by over 70 square miles of over 60 of the best Beaches in the Caribbean, with at least 3000 hrs of wonderful sunshine recorded annually, it is not surprising that Barbados is the most popular destination for a Caribbean holiday. Its palm fringed coral sand and virgin white beaches are overlapped by crystal clear turquoise waters, while boasting an almost perfect climate. In Barbados, beaches range from pink sand to the purest white, and are never overcrowded. Superb accommodation is available in beachfront hotels and a wide choice of Caribbean villa rentals.
The capital, historic Bridgetown, is one of the oldest cities in the Caribbean with many historical landmarks and a variety of restaurants and duty-free shopping.
