Being the closest of The Islands Of The Bahamas to the coast of Florida (you can see the glow of Miami Beach at night) has made The Bimini Islands a popular destination for American visitors. But it's more than just location that makes it a hot attraction - relaxing on a sun drenched white sand beach, scuba diving, sailing, or fishing makes Bimini idyllic for a long weekend or extended stay.
The islands also enjoy the reputation as the big-game fishing capital of the Bahamas, the Biminis, which consists of several islands including the two largest, North and South Bimini, are the only island group in the 700 island chain whose deep-water side faces west resulting in the group stretching across the Gulf Stream whose waters are rich in such tropical fish as wahoo, marlin and sailfish.
The islands also offer excellent scuba diving opportunities with many wrecks, and the much heralded and disputed theory that the Lost Continent of Atlantis is in these waters, plus undiscovered Spanish treasure ships.
The beaches here are absolutely superb.
